There are three reasons why wood is unbeatable in the production and use phases. In comparison to the production of other building materials, the production of wood products requires very little external energy. During use, 50% of the dry weight of wood is stored as carbon dioxide – and this is maintained throughout the entire lifespan of the building. At the end of its lifespan, it can be used as biofuel, replacing fossil fuels.
